Top-notch take-away fodder at Elizabeth King deli in Parsons Green, Fulham

My favourite local place has to be the fabulous Elizabeth King deli on the New Kings Road in Parsons Green. It’s a thriving place and has been serving up top-notch fodder for many years. In fact, Mum used to take me there over twenty years ago (wow that’s scary) when the floor was covered in sawdust.

Today, my business-partner Dom and I spend our days working on our start-up just around the corner and we go to ‘EK’ every day for lunch. We used to avoid the place, assuming it would be extortionate. Little did we know that it’s filled with delicious goodies and (although there is lots of pricey stuff in there) you can happily dine for £3-£5.

My current lunch-of-choice is the Chicken and Barley broth – perfect for warming the cockles at this time of year. The sausage roll is far from ordinary, the cured ham and salad sandwich goes down a treat, and there’s a cous cous, goats cheese and pepper mélange that I go for when on a health-kick. There’s also a great selection of freshly baked granary bread and fresh coffee to chose from. To top it all off, you can get genuine Portuguese ‘natas’ to perk you up during a post-lunch slump.
